Darlene Gurewitz

Darlene B. Gurewitz is an attorney at Castelblanco Law Group, where she specializes in habitability law, representing families living in unsafe and uninhabitable conditions and holding negligent landlords accountable.

Originally from the Calexico-Mexicali border region, Darlene earned a double major in Rhetoric and Anthropology from UC Berkeley. While at Berkeley, she participated in the Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program and worked as a legal intern assisting with asylum applications. Darlene obtained her J.D. from Loyola Law School, where she was an Equal Justice America Fellow and a Loyola Public Interest Scholar.

Before law school, Darlene worked at the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project in New York, where she contributed to cases that reached the U.S. Supreme Court, including Department of Homeland Security v. Thuraissigiam and Ms. L v. ICE. Darlene also worked at Van Der Hout LLP, a nationally renowned immigration law firm known for handling and winning complex cases.
